Community is vital to the vision of Ratna Ling. In keeping with the model developed by Tarthang Tulku and practiced through the wider Nyingma community, long-term members of the Ratna Ling community dedicate themselves to making their daily work, their interactions with others, and their commitment to the welfare of all beings central to their practice.

Ratna Ling is home to Dharma Mangalam Press, where Buddhist texts are printed in both Tibetan and English. While the Press is physically separate from the retreat facilities, its mission of sharing and preserving the written tradition of one of the world's great civilizations inspires all the activities of the Ratna Ling community.

Ratna Ling is an active working community, open to volunteers, whose members cultivate an ever deepening appreciation for their own capacities, their potential to benefit others, and the remarkable gift of being human in a setting that promotes transformation.

Ratna Ling's short-term guests and long-term retreatants are also active members of the community. They contribute not only by their presence and involvement, but in helping to maintain the balance between work and study that will make Ratna Ling such a special place.
